On 17 November, the Azerbaijan people celebrated National Revival Day. On that day in 1988, began a several day meeting on former Lenin square (now Azadlyg (Freedome) square). This meeting was organized by students of the Republic. Hundreds of thousands of people are protesting against Moscow's policies toward Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The demonstrations were suppressed some 18 days later, but it was the beginning of new national movement and revival...
